Obtiva Participates in EclipseCon 2007

Kevin P. Taylor, Obtiva President, will be co-presenting Creating Enterprise Business Applications Using Eclipse RCP. This 2 hour tutorial will cover:

  • Dividing responsibilities between the RCP client and J2EE Server
  • Applying the Presentation Model pattern to RCP client views facilitating easier unit testing
  • Streamlining and Automating Eclipse Update Site Usage for client updates
  • Employing the JFace Databinding API to decouple models and UI widgets
  • Structuring form-level validation and error handling
  • Notification and synchronization of data between the client and server
  • Managing disconnected network functionality
  • Client side database strategies

In addition to the above tutorial, Andy Maleh, Obtiva Consultant, will be presenting a 10 minute lightning talk on patterns and anti-patterns in Eclipse RCP development that he has discovered through his in the trenches implementation projects.
