If you haven't taken part in a Code Retreat with Corey Haines, trust us, you're missing out.
The experience is intense. The skills are lasting. The lessons learned are profound.
Make the most of your Chicago TechWeek by planning to attend a special Code Retreat on Tuesday, July 26. Partnering with Corey on this Code Retreat will be internationally recognized software developer Michael Feathers and Obtiva principal consultant Tyler Jennings.
Corey's day-long Code Retreats follow an established, time-tested format (he's held 20 so far). Attendees will learn how the day will unfold, be guided through each session, and take part in an introspective and closing circle. There are five or six 45-minute sessions, each one building on previous sessions and each one pairing you with someone different. The morning sessions focus on becoming comfortable with the problem domain, breaking old habits and beginning focused self-discovery. The afternoon pushes you further, challenging you to stretch your skills and understanding of abstractions, modular design and TDD. The day will be moderated and led by Corey, Michael and Tyler - representing an incredible brain trust.
The ideas presented and practiced in Code Retreat are applicable to any object-oriented language, and while this is not the time to learn a new language, it's fine to work in a language you're not familiar with.
Corey holds Code Retreats all over the world, and it's a rare opportunity to take part in this one with Michael and Tyler joining him. You can get an up-close look at what to expect from a Code Retreat on Corey's site here.
