Four Obtivians are heading across the pond to the land of bagpipes, kilts and golf to share their knowledge of Ruby.
Scottish Ruby Conference, a major event on the Ruby dance card, takes place in Edinburgh April 7-9, 2011, and four Obtiva team members have been selected to speak.
Dave Hoover has been named one of two keynoters. His address to all attendees will delve into craftsmanship and apprenticeship, his professional passion, and this conference marks the final stop on his Journeyman Tour, so this presentation will be nothing less than momentous.
Ryan Briones will be presenting a session titled “A Path to Mastering Web Development with Ruby,” while Tyler Jennings will co-lead a talk called “Scaling Groupon” with Mike Cerna, a lead developer at Groupon.
Last but certainly not least, Ethan Gunderson is presenting a session titled “On the Papers of Giants: Understanding Data Storage.”
We're looking into doing other special events in conjunction with Scottish Ruby, potentially hosting a reception or happy hour, or maybe a hackathon. Stay tuned.
What's really cool is that four Obtivians were selected to present at this esteemed event based on the individual strength of their proposals, so a huge congratulations to each of you, and safe travels. Eat some haggis for us.
