Obtiva believes in fostering community. We talk about it on many levels: our company community, our client’s community, the Chicago community, the national and global community. We like to build communities and help them succeed. By engaging these communities, learning from them, and giving back to them, we benefit.
However, it is still easy to forget that there are so many people that we are not learning from and who we are not sharing with. It is simply too easy to get caught up in the debates and discussions among the people we know and never take the time to broaden our connections.
Why not take the time to connect with a community you don’t know, and get to know them? Never been to a dotNet meet up before? Go to one. Curious about the design community? Seek them out. Wonder what it’s like to develop embedded software? Make a connection and investigate for yourself. Interested in entrepreneurship? Attend a lean startup meeting.
Remember to take a little time every once in a while to engage a community that is outside your comfort zone.
